Rufous Hummingbirds


Our migratory Rufous hummingbirds (Selasphorus rufus) have recently arrived for the summer, and are grudgingly sharing the feeders with the resident Anna's hummingbirds.  I managed to capture some nice photos this week with the new (to me) Olympus M.Zuiko 100-400mm f5-6.3 IS lens on my Olympus and Panasonic mirrorless cameras.

Rufous Hummingbirds

We recently bought a hummingbird feeder, and received another as a house-warming gift (thanks, Connie!) and we put them up over the weekend.  Within a few hours, we had several little feathered friends hanging around the front garden.
